This multifaceted position involves interpreting and applying the MA State Building Code, managing office and inspection staff, and ensuring compliance with local zoning bylaws. Job Responsibilities

Assist in supervising and managing office and inspection staff, Oversee daily operations both in the office and the field, Guide staff toward achieving long-term performance goals, Interpret and enforce state building codes and local zoning bylaws, Review zoning applications and issue permits, Evaluate compliance of permit applications and plans, Conduct inspections for code compliance during construction and renovations, Review and respond to inquiries from design professionals and the public, Schedule appointments and inspections, Maintain both digital and physical records, Attend public hearings and assist the Building Commissioner as needed.

Preferred Qualifications

Bachelor's Degree or equivalent experience, 5+ years of experience in building construction or design supervision, MA Construction Supervisors License, Certified as a Local Inspector within 12 months of appointment, Valid Drivers License, Advanced degree in a related field

Preferred Skills

In-depth knowledge of building and construction phases, Proficient in state and local building codes, Experience with office software (word processing, spreadsheets), Strong leadership and communication abilities, Excellent judgment and decision-making skills, Ability to manage conflict and build relationships, Familiarity with architectural access codes, energy conservation requirements, Understanding of zoning bylaws
