Enforce Massachusetts State Building Code, ensure compliance with town zoning bylaws, review building permit applications, conduct thorough field inspections, investigate building code violations and zoning bylaw breaches, respond promptly to public inquiries about permits and regulations, perform periodic inspections of schools, restaurants, theaters, and other buildings, engage with contractors, architects, and engineers for project reviews, undertake related duties as necessary.

Five years of experience in building construction supervision or an Associate's Degree in a related field, ability to obtain Massachusetts Local Building Inspector Certification within one year of hire, valid Massachusetts motor vehicle operator’s license, continuing education credits of 45 hours every three years, relevant certifications in construction or building inspection.
Knowledge of building materials and methods, familiarity with Massachusetts State Building Code and local zoning bylaws, competence in field inspection practices, excellent customer service capabilities, strong verbal and written communication skills, ability to interact successfully with the public and officials, capacity to maintain accurate inspection records, understanding of fire prevention standards, familiarity with architectural design principles.
