Oversee Building Department operations, Conduct building inspections to ensure compliance with codes, Investigate zoning complaints and enforce building codes, Respond to emergencies regarding buildings and disasters, Enforce occupant loads and conduct annual inspections for commercial establishments, Assist public inquiries from various stakeholders, Review construction plans for compliance with state and local regulations, Ensure life safety standards in all buildings, Maintain accessible office hours for community service, Issue building permits and coordinate inspections, Maintain logs of inspections and permits, Prepare departmental budget requests and monitor spending, Collect unauthorized signs on town property, Perform additional related duties as needed.

Bachelor’s degree in building construction, design, or a related field, 3 to 5 years of relevant experience, Valid Class D Motor Vehicle Operator’s License, Massachusetts State Building Commissioner Certification (Required), MA Construction Supervisor License (unrestricted) (Required), Municipal experience preferred
Knowledge of Massachusetts Building Code, building materials, construction methods, fire prevention techniques, inspection procedures, proficiency in office software and light equipment, Strong public relations skills, multitasking abilities, sound judgment, effective communication skills, Familiarity with federal, state, and local regulations, ability to interpret and enforce building codes, capacity to prepare detailed reports
