Enforce the Massachusetts Building Code, oversee zoning ordinances, inspect buildings for compliance, review building permit applications, provide technical support to the Historical Commission, advise on zoning decisions, serve as Zoning Enforcement Officer, enforce sign regulations, respond to public inquiries, process resident complaints, issue building permits, manage inspection schedules, maintain inspection logs, prepare and submit departmental budget requests, monitor departmental spending, supervise building inspectors and support staff, direct facilities maintenance, assist with internal construction projects, coordinate ADA compliance efforts, stay updated on building code changes.

Bachelor’s degree in construction management, design, engineering, architecture, or a related field, 7-10 years of building construction and zoning enforcement experience, Massachusetts Unrestricted Construction Supervisor’s License, Certified Massachusetts Building Commissioner license, valid Massachusetts Class D Driver’s License, municipal experience, expertise as a master craftsman.
