About The Job

Join the Town of Norfolk as a Building Commissioner, where you will lead the Building Department in enforcing state and local regulations, ensuring safety and compliance in construction and zoning. Job Responsibilities

Enforce Massachusetts State Building Code, Manage Building Department operations, Review zoning and building requests, Inspect new and existing buildings, Coordinate activities with other departments, Ensure safety in permitted work, Develop administrative policies, Manage online permitting software, Participate in building committees, Review Planning Board developments, Analyze Zoning Board of Appeals decisions.

Preferred Qualifications

High school graduation, Advanced technical training, 5-10 years of supervisory experience in building construction/design, Valid Massachusetts driver's license, MA certification as an Inspector of Buildings/Building Commissioner, Bachelor's degree in a related field.

Preferred Skills

Knowledge of Massachusetts State Building Code, Proficiency in building construction and design, Familiarity with online permitting systems, Strong leadership abilities, Excellent communication skills, Effective problem-solving capabilities, Understanding of zoning bylaws, Experience with building inspections.
