Lead the inspection and enforcement of building codes and zoning bylaws, Manage operations of the Building Department including zoning enforcement, Review and approve building permit applications, Conduct on-site inspections for compliance with structural and safety requirements, Investigate zoning complaints and issue notices for violations, Prepare documentation for appeals and represent the department in hearings, Oversee administrative tasks within the Building Department, Maintain records and collect fees associated with permits, Develop and manage the department's annual budget, Respond to inquiries from the public regarding construction regulations and safety standards, Collaborate with other town departments for efficient operations, Ensure safety inspections of public buildings, Coordinate inspector activities and provide guidance on compliance issues, Address emergency situations involving structural safety as part of the emergency management team.

Bachelor's Degree or equivalent building construction trade knowledge, Minimum of 7 years of experience in construction trades, MA State Building Commissioner License (or ability to obtain within 18 months), MA Construction Supervisors License (unrestricted), Valid Class D Motor Vehicle Operator’s License, Additional experience in municipal law and zoning regulations, Advanced certifications related to building inspection.
Proficient in construction methodologies, Knowledge of building codes, zoning bylaws, and safety regulations, Familiarity with GIS and office software for departmental operations, Strong oral and written communication skills, Excellent customer service and negotiation abilities, Ability to manage multiple priorities effectively, Interpersonal skills for dealing with the public and contractors, Understanding of local and state construction laws, Knowledge of architectural and engineering terminology, Ability to interpret technical drawings and plans.
