High school diploma, Certification by the Massachusetts State Board of Building Regulations and Standards (or ability to obtain within 12 months), Minimum of 5 years’ experience in plan examination for buildings, Valid Driver’s License, B.A. or B.S. in building construction/design or related field, 3+ years of relevant experience in a responsible role, Certified Building Official designation.
