About The Job

Join our team as a Local Building Inspector, responsible for ensuring compliance with the State Building Code and local zoning bylaws. In this pivotal role, you will review building applications, conduct inspections, and enforce regulations crucial for the safety and welfare of the community. Your expertise will help maintain the integrity of our built environment while serving as a key point of contact between builders, property owners, and municipal authorities.

Job Responsibilities

Inspect building premises for compliance with State and local codes, enforce building regulations and safety standards, review and evaluate building plans and permit applications, issue compliance notices to permit holders, maintain accurate files and records, conduct inspections of licensed premises, manage the permitting process, ensure public safety and welfare, collaborate with contractors and architects

Preferred Qualifications

5+ years of construction experience or an associate degree in a related field, Massachusetts Construction Supervisors License (CSL), valid driver's license, certification as a Local Building Inspector, Certified Building Inspector (preferred), residency within a 15-minute radius of Chelmsford (preferred)

Preferred Skills

Knowledge of building codes and regulations, plan review, inspection techniques, compliance enforcement, strong communication skills, problem-solving abilities, detail-oriented, teamwork, familiarity with local zoning bylaws, energy standards, construction practices
