About The Job

Join our team as a Local Inspector, where you will play a vital role in ensuring compliance with building codes, environmental regulations, zoning laws, and more. Under the guidance of the Building Commissioner, you will be responsible for enforcing federal, state, and local laws to maintain safety and accessibility in our community. This position is perfect for detail-oriented individuals who are passionate about construction and public safety.

Job Responsibilities

Review and evaluate permit applications, Issue simple building permits, Maintain and update inspection records, Generate detailed inspection reports, Enforce compliance with building, environmental, and zoning regulations, Collaborate with other departments and stakeholders, Provide excellent customer service to the public

Preferred Qualifications

Local Certification (preferred), Associate’s Degree or journeyman-level knowledge in building construction or a related trade, MA Construction Supervisor License, Approval letter from the MA Building Board of Regulations and Standards, MA Class D Vehicle License, Candidates without Local Inspector Certification can be sponsored within 18 months of hire

Preferred Skills

Proficient in building codes and regulations, Computer proficiency, Excellent written and oral communication, Strong customer service skills, Attention to detail, Knowledge of local zoning laws, Familiarity with environmental regulations
